...and Now for Something Perfectly Silly ;-)
In honor of National Draw a Dinosaur Day may I present my drawing (click on it to see a bigger version):
The RESOLUTION for Women
I do solemnly resolve before God to embrace my current season of life and live with a spirit of contentment.
I Will champion God's model for womanhood and teach it to my children.
I Will celebrate my God-given uniqueness and the distinctions He has placed in others.
I Will live as a woman answerable to God and faithfully committed to His Word.
I Will seek to devote the best of myself to the primary roles God has entrusted to me.
I Will be quick to listen, slow to speak, and esteem others more highly than myself.
I Will forgive those who have wronged me and reconcile with those I have wronged.
I Will not tolerate evil influences in myself or my home but will embrace a life of purity.
I Will pursue justice, love mercy, and extend compassion toward others.
I Will be faithful to my husband and honor him in my conduct and in my conversation, and will aspire to be a suitable partner to help him reach his God-given potential.
I Will teach my children to love God, respect authority and live responsibly.
I Will cultivate a peaceful home where God's presence is sensed.
I Will make today's decisions with tomorrow's impact in mind and consider my current choices in light of future generations.
I Will courageously work with the strength God provides to fulfill this resolution for the rest of my life and for His glory.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.---Joshua 24:15

The Prodigal Wife
Praying
long into the night
each breath
as laboured as the last.
Surely the
end will
come soon
as the sun rises
never has the pain hurt so much.
In the darkness
cold clammy hands reach
out for her throat
making her heart tremble as
early trains wail in the night.
Her eyes close as an
owl hoots
making it's way home
east and the sun is rising.

My Love and Apology Languages
I believe it's important to know what these are and crucial to know your partner's, if you're in a relationship. You can take the tests here. These are mine:
| |||||||
Physical Touch This language isn't all about the bedroom. A person whose primary language is Physical Touch is, not surprisingly, very touchy. Hugs, pats on the back, holding hands, and thoughtful touches on the arm, shoulder, or face--they can all be ways to show excitement, concern, care, and love. Physical presence and accessibility are crucial, while neglect or abuse can be unforgivable and destructive.

Today I am Thankful for My Cats
Boo and NaNos |
Today I am thankful for my cats.
They give me a reason
to keep putting one foot
in front of the other
and keep moving.
I force myself because of them
to get out of bed every morning
to give them food and water.
They love me unconditionally
they don't expect me
to be anything
other than what I am.
They don't care about
what I look like
how much I weigh
how different I am
or the things I say.
Even if they have a bad day
they don't hide away
they still want to be
snuggled up next to me.
When I have a bad day
I know I can count on them
to make me laugh
and let me cuddle with them.
I may not have much right now
but I'm grateful I have them.
NaNos and Boo
I love you!
Thank you God for these small blessings!
MaMas, Mijit, Merry, Pippin, and Molly
Mommy misses you and Daddy very much.

Today I am thankful for my husband.
Isn't he a cutie? ;-) |
Today I am thankful for my wonderful husband.
He is knowledgeable about so many different subjects,
and he takes the time to explain things I don't understand,
he is my teacher.
He is wise in the ways of the world and can help me to steer
clear of dangerous situations and people,
he is my common sense.
He has taught me to be more cautious and aware of my surroundings,
he is my protector.
He pays attention to things that could make us sick,
like spoiled food and cross contamination,
he keeps us safe from harm.
He is extremely handy and knows how to fix just about anything,
he is skilled in things that matter.
He works many hours in unpleasant situations to provide for our family,
even when he is sick and would rather be in bed,
he is hardworking.
He often does my laundry for me in the winter when it is cold
and the stairs too icy for me to traverse safely,
he is compassionate.
He makes weekly trips to the library for me,
and brings me little treats and gifts he thinks I'll like,
he is thoughtful.
When I ride with him I am never in fear,
he is one of the safest drivers I know,
he is responsible.
He would never do something to purposely hurt another person,
he is kind to other people and will go out of his way to help them,
he is giving.
He loves animals and has a wonderful way of making them feel special,
he is caring.
My husband is all of these things and so much more,
I love and have the utmost respect for him,
he is uniquely special and an awesome friend.

The Physics of the Quest
In the end, I've come to believe in something I call "The Physics of the Quest." A force in nature governed by laws as real as the laws of gravity. The rule of Quest Physics goes something like this: If you're brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter, old resentments, and set out on a truth-seeking journey, either externally or internally, and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher and if you are prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you.~ Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

Slow Dance
Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round,
or listened to rain slapping the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight,
or gazed at the sun fading into the night?
You better slow down, don't dance so fast,
time is short, the music won't last.
Do you run through each day on the fly,
when you ask "How are you?", do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed,
with the next hundred chores running through your head?
You better slow down, don't dance so fast,
time is short, the music won't last.
Ever told your child, we'll do it tomorrow,
and in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, let a friendship die,
'cause you never had time to call and say hi?
You better slow down, don't dance so fast,
time is short, the music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere,
you miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
it's like an unopened gift thrown away.
Life isn't a race, so take it slower,
hear the music before your song is over.
